Day Three in Cannes, Just Getting Started

This morning we woke to rain in the South of France. The weather channel is in French of course, so I could not understand the forecast, but I could look at the pictures and it looks like we are set for a few days of rain. Friday at the Marche du Film is supposed to be a very busy day. Many film buyers just come in for the long weekend so the traffic is supposed to be the heaviest during the next three days. I am travelling with Midian Films headed by Dana Glover, Michelle a DP, Mary is a writer and David Anderson is working on Promotion. David is on KVET every morning with the Buck and Bob radio show. David calls into the show with daily updates from Cannes. The time varies, since we never know where we are going to be at any particular time, but you might want to tune in.
We spent the afternoon yesterday in “The market” going from booth to booth introducing ourselves and determining if the vendor would be someone we might might want to get to know better. 1000’s and 1000’s of flims. We were referred to the three “the best sales agents in the business” and we meet with them all briefly to set up appointments for next week after the big rush is over.
I have attached the official Cannes 2009 poster. What do you think? Very thought provoking.
I have to get to The Market and start meeting distributors and collect some business cards.
Bonjour!
(I will share more of my awesome new skills in French in a later post).
